Originally from Manchester, England, James Birkbeck is an Edmonton-based artist.
Primarily self-taught, he unleashes his creative streak through many outlets; including photography, pyrography, digital art, painting, drawing, videography, music, poetry, and sculpture.
He is fascinated by this planet and strives to see as much of it as he can, and to capture as much as he can of what he sees. He particularly enjoys the small details that often get overlooked.
Many of his works evoke a wistful nostalgia for a time gone by. Other works suggest a strange obsession with androgyny, costumes, and self-identity.
